Bonjour, Madame

This one was inspired by, yet again, a classmate. There was no pronounced style that she seemed to have at the begin of the quarter, just whatever looked nice I suppose. And then one day she comes into class looking like someone right off the streets of Paris. Stripes, beret, bright red lips, the works. It was quite a shocker to me, but a nice one. It's situations like this that usually inspire my material, and I look forward to many like it in the future. I didn't think that this simple idea would turn out as big a picture as it did, but it ended up being one of the more complex pictures I've done to date, all from a small inspiration. To borrow the words of Mr. Dave Matthews, "Funny the way it is if you think about it."

Call Me An Animal Lover...

This one was done mostly as a joke and not to glorify myself at all (yes, that's me in the picture). At work, I'm told by my boss that I need to cut the six-pack rings every time I fill a pop cooler. And I do: it's not about not doing it. It's about doing it: sometimes I get a little flak from other employees for doing it, but I was told to do, so I'm going to do it, no matter if I get laughed at or not. I wanted to put it in a picture somehow, so I thought I'd do what I do most times to communicate a picture most of the time: turn the situation on it's ear. I think it worked okay...I'll leave it up to you to decide what the animals are I'm saving are. They look a little foreign now that I stop to examine. Oh, well.
Enjoy.

Would You Love Me More If... #2

...We Were Both Tattoo Artists?
Continuing with the theme, some individuals just wish that someone would notice them (or what they do at least), and have them think that you're cool or hardcore. I'm sure that's why some people get tattooed up: they want others to regard them with respect or awe. Tattoos are painful, no matter what the tough guy says, and therefore demand a certain measure of respect. If by the preceding couple of sentences you think that I am against tattoos, it's quite the opposite. I plan on getting a few later in life (when I've got enough money...and certainly not to impress anyone in particular.)
This one took awhile, I know, but I wanted to make sure it came out the way I really wanted it to. I had to experiment with how to fill out the tattoos to make them look just right. Then I wanted a good graphic background to go with it (kind-of tattoo oriented), and that took a bit of thinking and experimenting as well. But I think, overall, I'm satisfied with the end result. It looks almost perfect to the picture I had in my mind's eye when I set out to make this one (although any artist will tell you that it never comes out looking just how you want it to.)

Friends I Have Known #11

Well, it's 2010, and with it...the first picture of 2010. Does this year feel much different? Not really. I'm not trying to be pessimistic. It just takes a few months to get used to the new year...say, 11 months. Oh, well. Anyway, I'm not really sure what to say about this friend: words only go so far sometimes, and she's definitely one of those people that leaves you at a loss for words sometimes. I do know that she's probably one of my best friends and, to my recollection, gave me the first compliment that actually meant something to me. I only wish I could see her more. Blast this entire quote/unquote "college business": it always makes life more complicated. She's in Seattle for most of the year for school, so I thought that a Seattle backdrop was more that appropriate. I'm not sure if the perspective even means sense with the way Seattle is set up, but...does it really matter? As far as I know, a picture doesn't have to make sense (see earlier 100 posts for proof.) I hope you like this one.
I sure do.
